It took about 10 minutes to get cranking, but the Lower Columbia women's basketball team finally got it going and defeated Pierce 82-45 in Lakewood.
The Wednesday February 14th Valentines game was a close one after the first quarter as LCC held just a 15-12 lead. The Devils then took control with a 23-10 second quarter and then erased any doubt outscoring the Raiders 28-8 in the third period.
Lower Columbia shot 50 percent from the floor, but it was the defense that forced 34 Pierce turnovers.The Devils had 15 steals.
Shanay Dotson scored 20 points to lead all scorers.  Dotson was 8 for 11 from the floor and 3 for 5 from long distance.
Hayley Niles also shot very well, hitting 7 of 10 shots on the way to 18 points.
Tywanna Abbott had 11 points and eight rebounds.Â
Nizhoni Wheeler contributed 10 points and seven boards.
Cherita Daugherty led the Devils with nine assists.
Ruby Daube had 18 to lead Pierce.
LCC goes to 8-2 in the West Region and 18-8 overall. The Devils will be taking a five game winning streak to Aberdeen on Saturday for a huge showdown with red hot Grays Harbor, winners of 22 in a row. The Chokers rallied in the 4th quarter to beat LCC in the first meeting in Longview on January 20th.
Saturday's game will get underway at 2:00 pm on the Grays Harbor College campus.
