It was a grinder of a championship in the final of the 2018 Lower Columbia Holiday Classic.
North Idaho had a big first quarter and they were able to hold on at the end for a 50-47 victory over the Red Devils.
It seemed every trip down the floor was a physical struggle to score.Â
Tournament MVP Keara Simpson hit a big shot to give the Cards the lead they would not relinquish.Â
Emily Packham of the Devils hit a huge three with :47 seconds left to give LCC it's only lead of the game before Simpson's game winner. The Cards got a lay-up to go up by three and the Devils couldn't get a shot off before the time expired.
All-Tournament selection
Nizhoni Wheeler had 18 points and eight rebounds to lead the Devils. Fellow All-Tourney selection
Kenya Lorton had 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Other All-Tournament selections included Heidi Sellman of North Idaho, Taylor Stricklin of Umpqua and Allison Hadaway of Whatcom.
The Devils have 10 days off to get ready for the West Region league opener. LCC will host the Green River Gators on Wednesday January 9th, game time at 6 pm.
