LCC Fans Get Good First Impression

The old saying is: you only get one first impression.

The Lower Columbia College men's basketball team made it a good one as the Red Devils opened up the Red Devil Classic with a 94-78 victory over the Southwestern Oregon Lakers.

The Devils led the home opener from start to finish jumping out to a 12-0 lead and cruising to an entertaining game that featured plenty of contributors from up and down the LCC roster.

Martis Johnson led the scorers with 19 points, but it was a pair of big men who came up with double-doubles to fuel the victory.  Dwayne Stewart had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Stewart was money at the free throw line going 8 for 8.

Bricin Ford came off the bench with great energy. He had 13 points and 14 big rebounds.

Seth Hall forced the Lakers out of a zone when he hit two big three's in the second half.  Hall ended up with 12 points and four assists.  Alec Canete-Hall did a great job at the point position with eight points and four assists.

Jaylen LyDay had nine points and four boards off the bench and Samaad Hector made his LCC debut with six points including a thunderous dunk in the second half.

LCC out-rebounded the Lakers 49-33 and it got the team on the break where they shot 48.5% from the floor.

The Devils move on to the Red Devil Classic semi-finals where they will host Spokane at 8 pm on Saturday November 24th.
