Brandon Cotton took over.
In a close, intense game at Centralia College on Saturday January 13th, the Lower Columbia point guard led his team on a strong finish that ended up in a 79-66 victory over the Trail Blazers.
The score does not indicate how close the game was.
Cotton had 29 points and it was a pair of old fashioned three-point plays that gave the Devils the impetus to close out the victory. Cotton was 10-14 from the floor and 3 for 5 from beyond the arc.
Wesley Gilbert had a double-double for the Devils with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Donald Scott had five points and 10 boards.
Spencer Sweet tied the game with a three-pointer at the 13 minute mark of the second half and LCC would never trail again. Sweet ended up with 11 points.
Bricin Ford had eight points and five rebounds.
The Devils go to 2-0 in the West Region and will host Pierce Wednesday night January 17th. Tip off is at 8 pm. It's Red Canoe Credit Union Night as RDCU members get free admission by showing their debit or credit card.
