Lower Columbia women's coach Chad Meadors always preaches defense as the cornerstone to any team. He was probably very pleased as he watched his team dig down on "D" to defeat Highline 51-41 on Saturday February 18th in Des Moines. It gave coach Meadors his 200th career college coaching victory.
The Red Devils were down 23-19 at halftime, but put on the clamps and outscored the T-Birds 20-10 in the third quarter to regain control.
Madison Lord had a huge game for the Devils with 14 points and 17 rebounds. She also had four blocks, two steals and two assists.
Tywanna Abbott scored 12 points and pulled down six boards.
The Devils were playing a second consecutive game without Faye Chartraw, who was with family after an emotional funeral for her mother Crystal on Friday. Most of her Red Devil teammates were on hand for the service.
The win sets up a huge showdown with Centralia on Wednesday February 22nd at Centralia. Both teams are 10-1 in the West. Tipoff is set for 6 pm on Wednesday and the game can be heard live on AM 1490 KLOG and on the web at klog.com.
