Devils Rally From 14 Down to Beat Olympic

It was the first test to see how the LCC men's basketball team would react to a loss.

They passed the test, despite having to rally from 14 down in the first half to beat Olympic 92-86 on the final day of the 31st Red Devil Classic on Sunday November 26th.

With the victory, the Devils took third place in the eight team tournament at Myklebust Gym.

After a tough loss to Everett in the RD Classic semi-final on Friday, LCC got down before outscoring the Rangers 53-40 in the second half.

Kyle Daugherty had 19 points and seven rebounds to lead the way.  Wesley Gilbert had an outstanding game as he scored 15 points and pulled down 12 rebounds, his first double-double for the Devils.

Spencer Sweet continued his solid play with 12 points.  Sweet was named to the Red Devil Classic all-tournament team.

Brandon Cotton had 11 points.

LCC got outstanding bench play as Dwayne Stewart had 10 points and nine rebounds.  Said Ali played some great defense and contributed nine points, five rebounds and three assists.

Donald Scott also played a key role in the second half comeback with seven points.

The Devils go to 3-1 on the season.

Spokane won the tournament with a final game victory over Everett.

LCC returns to action with a game at home against Umpqua on Friday December 1st.  The tip off is set for 8 pm.  Bellevue and Chemeketa will play a game prior at 6 pm.

Saturday, Umpqua and Bellevue will play at 12 pm, followed by the Devils against Chemeketa at 2 pm.
