Devils Still Alive At NWAC Championships

The Lower Columbia College volleyball team shook off a tough loss to Linn Benton and stayed alive with a win over Shoreline in the first day of the NWAC Volleyball Championships on Thursday November 16th at the Tacoma Convention Center.

Linn Benton rallied from a set down to beat the Devils 3-1 in the tourney opener for both teams, a rematch of last year's NWAC Championship match.

The Devils jumped out on top with a 25-20 win in the opening set, only to see the Roadrunners regroup and win the final three 25-20, 25-22 and 25-21.

The Devils had six untimely service errors that opened the door for Linn Benton in the highly competitive match.

Cassidy Thompson led LCC with 15 kills and 14 digs.

Megan Miller and McKenna LaRoy had eight kills each. Nina Bailey had seven kills and nine digs.

Setter Macey Wright had 22 assists. Fellow setter Olivia Conradi had 16 assists and 15 digs.

Khloe Clark had 17 digs for LCC.

The Devils kept the season going with a 2-0 sweep of Shoreline Thursday night.  The set scores were 25-17 and 25-16 in the best-of-three elimination match.

It was a balanced net attack as LCC had a .241 kill percentage.

Bailey had five kills and LaRoy and Miller had four each.

Wright and Conradi had nine assists each.  Clark and Thompson split 24 digs with 12 each.

Lower Columbia will attempt to keep the dream alive with an elimination match Friday November 17th at 3 pm. The Devils will take on the loser of the Walla Walla Pierce match.
