Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Another Outstanding Season! Devils Take The Fifth

We Fight!

That is the motto that LCC volleyball head coach Carri Smith instills in her team each year.

They showed plenty of fight as LCC battled back from a tournament opening loss and won three in a row before succumbing to Linn Benton on Saturday.  The Devils ended up with a 5th place finish and a whole lot of respect.

On Friday, the Red Devils came up with a dominating performance as the eliminated league-rival Pierce 25-13 and 25-18.  Megan Miller had seven kills, Khloe Clark dug out 12 balls and Macey Wright collected 13 assists. The Raiders won the two league matches but the Devils made the third time the charm.

Saturday was a daunting challenge to get back to the Sunday championship round.  But for a while it was looking like the Devils were up to it.

Lower Columbia eliminated Spokane with a 2-0 sweep, taking the match 25-16 and 25-13.  Nina Bailey and McKenna LaRoy had six kills each.  Clark had 10 digs and Wright led the way with 12 assists.

That set up another clash with Linn Benton and it was a classic.  The Roadrunners took a close opening set 25-23, but LCC came back with an epic 29-26 win to set up a decider.  The Devils were down 22-18 in that set but didn't quit. That we fight thing coming into full display.

But in the end, Linn Benton won the deciding set 15-10 to advance.

Megan Miller led the net attack with nine kills and Cassidy Thompson added eight kills. Bailey had six.

Clark, in her final Red Devil match as an incredible libero, had 26 digs.  Wright had 18 assists.

It was the final go around for the memorable threesome of Bailey, Clark and Olivia Conradi. In their career at LCC, they won a championship and a 5th place finish.

It was another great season for the Devils as they continue to show that they belong in the elite of NWAC volleyball.

Because they fight!
