Two outstanding college volleyball teams went back and forth in a highly entertaining match on Wednesday November 1st.
The Highline Thunderbirds rallied from down 1-2 to beat Lower Columbia 15-10 in the deciding set.
Lower Columbia came out hot, winning the first set 25-15. Highline came back and equalized with a 25-17 win in set two. The Devils then regained the advantage by winning set three 25-23. The turning point was Highline taking an epic set four 32-30.
Cassidy Thompson led LCC with 14 kills.
Megan Miller had 11 kills.
Prior to the match, LCC sophomores
Nina Bailey,
Khloe Clark and
Olivia Conradi were honored before their final home match. All three gave it everything they had. Bailey had seven kills, six blocks and seven digs. Clark had 32 digs. Conradi had four kills, 23 assists and 12 digs.
Highline was led by Zoe Gaines who had 26 kills.
The loss dropped the Devils into a second place tie with Highline, both at 9-3. Pierce holds the top spot at 10-2, although LCC will have a chance to knock off the Raiders Friday in Lakewood. The Devils close out the regular season Wednesday November 8th at Green River.
