Last season the Lower Columbia women's basketball team lost a home game to Centralia. It wasn't just a loss, it was a beat down.
One year later, the Devils helped erase that memory with a 69-59 victory over the Blazers, putting LCC back into a share for first place in the West. The Devils, Blazers and Tacoma are all three at 4-1 in the division.
Madison Lord had a great game for the Devils on Wednesday Janury 25th, scoring 21 points and pulling down nine rebounds. Lord was 7 for 11 from the floor.
Samantha Boyce continues to get back to her normal self after a slow start from an early season concussion. Boyce scored eight points, including two-for-two from long distance.
Keahi-lele Roy hit three 3-pointers for nine points. She also had three assists. Roy and Boyce opened up the middle for Lord and fellow post
Tywanna Abbott who had five points and four boards.
The Devils showed depth by having players step up while leading scorer
Madison Hinrichs and effective bench scorer
Faye Chartraw both had off shooting nights.
LCC's full court pressure forced the Blazers into 27 turnovers. But the Devils were also giving as they had 22 miscues.
Tamika Etherly led Centralia with 15 points.
The Devils, ranked #4 in the latest NWAC poll, will head to Aberdeen on Saturday January 28th for a 2 pm game with Grays Harbor. After spending decades playing games at Aberdeen High School, the Chokers are playing in their campus gymnasium. You can hear the game live on AM 1490 KLOG locally and worldwide on klog.com.
