After a slow start against Clark, the Lower Columbia men's basketball team got the energy boost they would need from
Devin Johnson.
Johnson's two emphatic slam dunks within a three minute period in the first half ignited the Devils and spurred them on to a 78-67 victory over Clark on Friday December 30th.
Trailing 9-0 at the outset, Johnson's dunks swung the momentum. LCC led 36-32 at the half and outscored the Penguins 42-35 in the second half.
Keun Palu-Thompson led LCC with 22 points and six assists. Palu-Thompson was six-for-10 from the floor and he made all nine of his free throw attempts.
Johnson had 12 points and eight rebounds. The two dunks were powerful and impressive.
Marcus Lord also had 12 points and two steals.
Both Johnson and Lord played with foul trouble, but
Geordi Morrow and
Inosi Naga provided valuable minutes off the bench. Morrow had six boards and two steals while Naga had four boards and a block.
Spencer Sweet had a solid game with 18 points including four three's.Â
Nate Solomon had seven points, nine rebounds and four assists.
The Devils go to 9-4 and will have one more tune-up game before West Region play begins on January 11th against Pierce. LCC takes on the Seattle Mountaineers Wednesday January 4th at Myklebust Gym. Tip time is 7 pm.
