The Linn Benton Roadrunners came into Longview riding an 18 match win streak and a 43 set win streak.
LB lost a set, but won the match 3-1 over Lower Columbia on Wednesday September 14th.
The talented Roadrunners showed they are one of the teams to beat in the NWAC this season. But the Devils were up to the challenge.
Linn Benton held off LCC 25-21 in a back-and-forth opening set. The 'Runners appeared to be thinking blowout after they collected a 25-14 win to take a 2-0 lead.
But the Devils had other ideas after the intermission as they handed LB its first set loss of the season, 25-16.
Linn Benton then took care of business as they held off the Devils 25-18 in the final set. Linn Benton is now 19-0 on the season.
Kallie Schmit led LCC with 23 kills. The sophomore transfer from Kalama took charge at the net as the Devils played without
Rachel Erickson and
Nina Bailey, resting injuries.
Brooke Mosier had a second straight solid match with 10 kills. The NWAC Setter of the Week
Haylee Savage had 34 assists and eight digs.
Khloe Clark led the Devils with 15 digs.
The Devils are now 12-4 overall as they rest this weekend and get ready for league play. LCC opens up the West grind with a road match at Pierce on Wednesday September 21st. The next home match is Friday September 23rd against Grays Harbor at 7 pm.
