The 2016 Lower Columbia College volleyball opened the season by winning four of six matches at the NWAC Fall Festival in Eugene, Oregon.
It was a busy Saturday August 27th as LCC played four matches. The team opened up with a 2-1 victory over Olympic, then took care of Clark 2-0.
The Devils then played a third straight match, dropping a 2-0 decision to Spokane. LCC closed out the busy Saturday with a 3-1 loss to Bellevue.
Sunday went well as the Red Devils defeated Southwestern Oregon 2-0 and then capped the weekend with a 3-1 victory over Columbia Basin.
Kallie Schmit and
Rachel Erickson showed well at the net during the tournament. Erickson had 58 kills and Schmit had 54. Erickson also 34 digs, four blocks and six aces. Schmidt added 54 digs, six blocks and four aces.
Haylee Savage led the way with 93 assists and 23 digs in the six matches.
Khloe Clark led the digs catagory with 58.Â
Nina Bailey had 14 blocks and
Jessy Marinetti had 13.
The Devils home opener is Tuesday August 30 when they host the Chemeketa Storm. The match begins at 5 pm. LCC will then host Columbia Basin on Wednesday August 31st at 3 pm. Then Clackamas visits Myklebust Gym for a 7 pm match on Thursday September 1st.
