With the West Region title already in hand, the Red Devils knew that Saturday February 27th's home game with South Puget Sound was not a must-win.
It was still disapointing.
The Clippers came away with a 70-67 victory in an intense game with playoff intensity. The Clips needed a win to keep hopes of a home playoff game alive.
The loss snapped the Devils four game win streak and LCC finished league with a 12-2 mark and the school's 12th West Region title. LCC is 20-8 on the season.
Four Red Devils finished in double-figures.
Lawrence Russell had 17 points, five rebounds and four assists.
Devin Johnson had 16 points and 10 rebounds.Â
Elijah Cotton-Welch scored 11 and
Keun Palu-Thompson had 10 points.
Head coach
Jim Roffler told The Daily News, "It wasn't a must win game for us and I didn't see the urgency. South Puget Sound wanted a marquee win for their season and they got it. I believe if we would've squeaked out a win, the guys wouldn't have listened to what I had to say after the game. With the loss, they listened and understood the message."
Prior to the game, sophomores
Kyle Bobo,
Jared Roffler and Russell were honored before thier final regular season home game. They get one more game in front of the home fans.
LCC now gets ready for the post-season as they will take on the Columbia Basin Hawks this Saturday at Myklebust Gym. Game time is 5 pm. It's an NWAC Round of 16 Regional game and ticket sales are managed and collected by the NWAC.  Booster passes are not valid for the loser out playoff game.
Playoff tickets are on sale and can be purchased in advance at the LCC Student Center main office. The Student Center is located on 15th Avenue.Â
