If the LCC women's basketball team was determined to show that its blowout loss to Centralia was a fluke, they certainly didn't show it in the first half of their next game.
That desire kicked in after halftime.
Down four at halftime, the Devils outscored Grays Harbor 46-16 in the second half and beat Grays Harbor 74-48 on Wednesday February 24th in Aberdeen.
Head coach
Chad Meadors challenged his team in no uncertain terms during the halftime gathering and his team responded. A 21-2 run was fueled by defense and rebounding and then the shots started to fall.
Faye Chartraw scored 14 points to lead LCC including 4 of 6 Three-Pointers.Â
Bailey Hockett turned on the switch and had a great second half. She ended up with 12 points and eight rebounds.
Keahi-lele Roy was also instrumental in the rally scoring 11 points including two three's.
The Red Devil bench outscored the Chokers 27-9.
Kennedy Wharton had 20 to lead the Harbor.
The Devils are now 12-1 in league and 20-9 overall. LCC and Centralia head to the final regular season date tied at 12-1. LCC hosts third place South Puget Sound (7-6) Saturday February 27th at 5 pm. The game can be seen live on DevilVision, produced by ToferVision. Just go to You Tube and search LCC Red Devil Athletics. Sophomores
Katie Hankins,
Katerina Brejchova, and Nesia Selava will be honored prior to the game.
LCC has already clinched a home Regional Playoff game Saturday March 5th at 3 pm. If LCC is West #1, they will take on either Clark or Chemeketa. If the Devils are West #2, they would play either Columbia Basin or Treasure Valley. Tickets for the home playoff will go on sale at Saturday's regular season finale.
