The Lower Columbia men's basketball team will not have to share.
The Red Devils rallied in the second half to defeat Grays Harbor 87-69 on Wednesday February 24th in Aberdeen. With the win, LCC captured the school's 12th Region title and its first since 2008.
Already with a share of the title and the #1 seed wrapped up, the Devils came out flat and ran into a fired up Choker team that hadn't won a league game all season. The Devils were down eight at halftime.
But the Devils went on a 19-3 run and turned the nail-biter into a blow out.
LCC leading scorer
Lawrence Russell and teammate
Devin Johnson were both scoreless at halftime before getting into the flow. Johnson ended up with 16 points and Russell scored 12.
Elija Cotton-Welch led LCC with 18 points including 4 for 5 from three point range. ECW missed just one shot in eight attempts.
The Devils as a team shot 60 percent for the game and a blistering 71 percent in the second half.
Keun Palu-Thompson had 15 points and seven rebounds for Lower Columbia.Â
Marcus Lord had a big first half as he scored eight of his 10 points before recess.
Tyrone Watson had 19 points for Grays Harbor before fouling out.
It's another 20 win season for head coach
Jim Roffler. The Devils go to 12-1 in the West and 20-7 overall.
The Devils close out the regular season with a home game Saturday night February 27th against South Puget Sound. The Clippers come into the game tied with Highline for second place at 10-3. Game time is 7 pm.
Three Devil sophomores will be honored prior to the game, Russell,
