Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Big Win Over Highline Increases Devils League Lead

It's all about that D. 'Bout that D.

The Lower Columbia men's basketball team held Highline to 20 points below its scoring average in a 69-51 victory at Myklebust Gym on Wednesday February 17th.

The defense was solid all night until the offense could catch up in the second half.  LCC led just 29-27 at the break, but outscored the Thunderbirds 40-24 in the second half for the victory.

Lawrence Russell continues his strong campaign for West MVP. He scored 24 points with nine rebounds and four assists.  Russell was 8 for 12 from the floor and 6 for 7 from the free throw line.

Keun Palu-Thompson had 12 points.  Devin Johnson, like Palu-Thompson, struggled shooting the ball but he was a force down low with eight points and nine rebounds.

Nate Solomon provided great offense from the bench by going 3 for 4 from three-point range, scoring nine points.  Marcus Lord was also very active down low with seven points and two assists.

Jared Murphy had 13 points to lead the T-Birds.

LCC goes to 10-1 in the West, 18-7 overall.  The T-Birds drop to 8-3 in the division, two games behind LCC with three games to play.

The Devils host Centralia Saturday February 20th, tip off at 7 pm.  The game be seen live on Devil Vision, the LCC Athletics You Tube channel. The game will also be on the radio on AM 1490 KLOG in the Longview-Kelso area and worldwide at klog.com.
