The Lower Columbia men's basketball team held Highline to 20 points below its scoring average in a 69-51 victory at Myklebust Gym on Wednesday February 17th.
The defense was solid all night until the offense could catch up in the second half. LCC led just 29-27 at the break, but outscored the Thunderbirds 40-24 in the second half for the victory.
Lawrence Russell continues his strong campaign for West MVP. He scored 24 points with nine rebounds and four assists. Russell was 8 for 12 from the floor and 6 for 7 from the free throw line.
Keun Palu-Thompson had 12 points.Â
Devin Johnson, like Palu-Thompson, struggled shooting the ball but he was a force down low with eight points and nine rebounds.
Nate Solomon provided great offense from the bench by going 3 for 4 from three-point range, scoring nine points.Â
Marcus Lord was also very active down low with seven points and two assists.
Jared Murphy had 13 points to lead the T-Birds.
LCC goes to 10-1 in the West, 18-7 overall. The T-Birds drop to 8-3 in the division, two games behind LCC with three games to play.
