Offense some times comes and goes. But if you can play great defense, you usually have a chance.
The Lower Columbia College women's basketball team used defense to battle back from 16 points down in the third quarter to beat North Idaho 59-54 in the semi-final of the Lower Columbia Holiday Classic.
Carissa Cannon led the defensive charge with five steals and harrasing defense. The sophomore from Kodiak Alaska had five points, five rebounds, three blocks and two assists.
The third quarter got the Devils back in the game when they outscored the Cardinals 19-14 in the period. Then LCC capped it off with a 19-9 advantage in the 4th.
Madsion Lord had 10 points, four rebounds and three steals.Â
Madison Hinrichs had nine points and eight assists.
10 of the 11 Red Devils who played in the game scored.
LCC will take on Umpqua for the tournament championship at 3 pm Friday December 30th. The game can be viewed live on Devil Vision.
Umpqua held off a Yakima Valley upset effort with a 82-76 victory. Also, the Delena Dragons beat Centralia 57-51 and Highline held on to down Mt. Hood 58-53.
