It was looking like an easy home blowout for the LCC women's basketball team on Wednesday November 30th.
The Clark Penguins had other ideas.
Up 15 at half, Lower Columbia let down its guard and allowed the Penguins back into the game. But a strong finish enabled the Devils to win 67-61, jumping the LCC record to 3-1 on the young season.
Madison Lord looked outstanding in the early going as LCC jumped out to a 12-3 lead. The freshman from Vancouver dealt with some foul trouble but ended up leading the Devils with 13 points.
"We should have been up 25 to 30 at halftime", said LCC head coach
Chad Meadors. "We turned it over several times without a shot and that allowed Clark to stay within reach. The third quarter was a mess and the Penguins made a game of it to their credit. We took care of things down the stretch and will learn from it."
Keahi-lele Roy had 10 points and
Tywanna Abbott also scored 10.
Madison Hinrichs was held to just seven points, but the Devil point guard did lead the team with eight rebounds and four assists.
Kaitlin Lewis had seven points and seven rebounds.
The Devils travel to Portland to play the Panthers on Wednesday December 7th at 6 pm.
