The Lower Columbia College volleyball team came up with its second gritty 5th set comeback in two days to go 3-0 at the NWAC Championships in Tacoma.
Thursday mornings incredible rally over Spokane was still on thier minds when the Devils came back from down 14-12 in the 5th set Friday night to beat Walla Walla 16-14 and take the intense match 3-2. The Devils were up 2-0 before the Warriors came back and evened things with two close wins in set three and four.
This Devils team seems to be on mission and they will take on Chemeketa Saturday afternoon at 1:30 pm in the NWAC Semi-Finals. The Storm is also on a mission of thier own as they swept previosuly unbeaten Linne Benton in the quarterfinals.
Against the outstanding Walla Walla team, LCC got 26 kills and 16 digs from
Kallie Schmit.Â
Rachel Erickson had 23 kills and 29 digs as both LCC leaders showed talent and versatility.
Nina Bailey was huge with 11 kills and four blocks.Â
Haylee Savage had 60 assists as she knew where to go.Â
Khloe Clark was amazing at Libero as she led LCC with 40 digs. Clark's long serve that was tipped at the back line by Walla Walla set off the celebration.
Earlier on Friday, LCC had to work very hard to gain a 3-0 sweep pver Umpqua. The sets scores were 25-22, 25-17 and 25-21. Schmit had 16 kills to lead the net attack. Erickson added 13 kills and 15 digs. Savage collected 38 assists and Clark had 16 digs.
