The Lower Columbia volleyball team at least got one day of action in.
LCC played the host of an NWAC Cross Over tournament, but the forecast of predicted high winds and rain had many of the attending coaches concerned about the trip home. The tournament's Saturday bracket play was cancelled. As it turned out, the wind storm was not nearly as severe as predicted.
The Red Devils won two of the three matches they played on Friday October 14th. Walla Walla defeated LCC 25-19 and 25-16 in the best of three format.
LCC bounced back and beat Everett 25-12 and 25-8. The Devils then capped the abbreaviated event with a 25-16, 25-16 victory over Clackamas.
There were plenty of solid performances for the LCC team in the combined three-match stat sheet.
Kallie Schmit had 31 kills, 31 digs and seven blocks to lead the way.
Rachel Erickson had 15 kills and 20 digs and
Nina Bailey provided 15 kills and 20 digs in the three matches.
Kylie Reinholdt had nine kills and seven blocks.
Jessy Marinetti had 17 blocks.
Haylee Savage collected 14 assists. Backup setter
Marina Alber also did well with 15 assists.
Khloe Clark had 67 digs and
Brooke Mosier dug out 25 balls.
The Devils return to West Region play this Wednesday when they host the Pierce Raiders at Myklebust Gym. The Devils dropped a 3-2 match to Pierce earlier this season, blowing a 2-0 lead. The team was playing without Schmit in that match and they look forward to having her ready for the Raiders this time. LCC has won six straight league matches since that loss in Lakewood.
First serve at Myklebust Gym Wednesday is 7 pm.
