The Devils stayed in first place in the West Division with a 3-0 sweep of South Puget Sound on Wednesday October 12th.
Up 2-0 and looking for the sweep, the Devils had to rally in the third set to pull out the victory. The set scores were 25-11, 25-18 and 25-21.
Kallie Schmit and
Brooke Mosier were keys to the third set rally. Schmit closed the door with a pair emphatic spikes and Mosier came up with some big plays down the stretch.
Schmit had 13 kills and eight digs.Â
Rachel Erickson was solid with nine kills and eight digs.
Haylee Savage ran the show with 37 assists.Â
Khloe Clark led the Devils with nine digs.
Lower Columbia has won six straight league matches following a road defeat at Pierce to start the league schedule. The Red Devils are tied with Highline for first at 6-1, although LCC beat the T-Birds last week.
LCC is 18-5 overall.
The Devils host the eight team NWAC Cross Over Tournament on Friday and Saturday October 14th and 15th. The action at Myklebust Gym gets underway at 1 pm on Friday. LCC plays Walla Walla at 2 pm, Everett at 4 pm and Clackamas at 6 pm. The tournament continues all day Saturday.
Admission is $5 per day for adults, $3 for seniors and students.
