Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Devils Start Fast, Stay Unbeaten In League

An early hot hand combined with a stifling defense was the catalyst for a 66-51 victory over Grays Harbor on Wednesday January 27th.

Faye Chartraw got the offense going with two early threes. The freshman from Neah Bay led the team in scoring with 21 points including 3 of 5 three-pointers.

It was defense that was key.  Carissa Cannon and her teammartes held Grays Harbor star Kennedy Wharton to just five points in the first half. Wharton ended up leading the Chokers with 16 points.

Chartraw was the lone double-figure scorer for LCC, but 11 Red Devil players got into the scoring column.  Katie Hankins and Katerina Brejchova had eight each. Hankins led LCC with five rebounds.  Brejchova ran the point and didn't turn it over in 25 minutes of playing time.

Nesija Selava and Lexie Turner had six each.

The Devils head back on the road with a 6-0 league mark. LCC will take on South Puget Sound at 1 pm Saturday January 30th.

The game can be heard on Forks1490.com with Oly Archibald.
