The Lower Columbia men's basketball team won its eighth straight victory with a 102-79 victory over Grays Harbor on Wednesday January 27th.
A big first half put the team into cruise control before the game turned into a second half run-and-gun affair. Leading 46-29 at the half, LCC then scored 56 points in the second half to get to the century mark for the first time this season.
Lawrence Russell scored 22 points and collected six assists, both team highs. The sophomore continues his bid for West MVP by hitting 9 of 12 shots.
Keun Palu-Thompson had 13 points and Elijiah Cotton-Welch added 12. The freshman duo from Wilson High in Tacoma each had three assists.
Playing on a sore foot,
Devin Johnson had eight points and five rebounds.
Tyler Barton provided energy and scoring off the bench with 11 points on 4 for 5 shooting.Â
Geordi Morrow also was a contributor with 11 points, including a slam dunk. The Devils had 44 points scored by the non-starters.
The game was sloppy at times with 45 turnovers between the two teams, 21 by LCC.
Malik Redmond had 19 points to lead the Chokers.
With the win, the Devils go to 6-0 in the West Region. LCC will close out the first round by heading to Olympia for a 3 pm game Saturday against South Puget Sound.
