The Lower Columbia Red Devils used a big five run 5th inning to defeat Treasure Valley 5-3 in quarterfinal action at the NWAC Baseball Championships at Story Field on Friday March 22nd.
Tanner Olson settled down and settled in. After giving up two runs in the second frame, the sophomore right hander went seven solid innings, allowing six hits, one walk and four strikeouts.
Christian Parsons collected his second tourney save, going two innings allowing just one hit with four strikeouts.
On a day that Devil shortstop Seaver Whalen was voted as the NWAC MVP, he went out and had three hits for LCC. Tanner Marty had two hits and an RBI. Lorin Archibald, Ryan Littlefield and Michael Forgione all had a hit and an RBI.
The Devils left 12 runners left on base.
The win sets up a showdown with West rival Tacoma in a semi-final Saturday at 7:05 pm.
Tacoma torched a big celebration with a walkoff single in the bottom of the 9th for a 7-6 win over Mt. Hood. Also, Douglas blanked Everett 2-0 and Edmonds stayed alive with a 6-2 win over Walla Walla.
The matchups for Saturday are Douglas versus Mt. Hood at 11:05 am, Treasure Valley against Edmonds at 2:05 pm and the Devils-Titans game at 7:05 pm.
