Two big home runs and solid pitching by Kade Kryzsko helped the Lower Columbia Red Devils win their opener in the 2015 NWAC Baseball Championships Friday May 21st at Story Field.
Freshman center fielder Ryan Engquist hit his first college homer, a solo shot in the third inning. Ryan Littlefield then mashed a two-run shot in the sixth and LCC went on the beat Everett 4-3. It was the 7th homer of the season for Littlefield.
Kryzsko went 7 2/3 innings of shutout ball before he was chased when he gave up a three run homer to John Naff of the Trojans. Christian Parsons then came on to close it out for the save. Kryzsko was outstanding, allowing just six hits. He is now 8-0 on the season.
Jake Bakamus had two hits for the Devils.
With the win, the Devils advance in the winners bracket where they will take on Treasure Valley Friday night at 7:35 pm. TV defeated Douglas 7-0 earlier on Thursday. Tacoma opened the tourney with a 9-4 win over defensing champion Edmonds. Mt. Hood erupted for five runs in the sixth inning to defeat Walla Walla 6-3.
It was an excellent crowd on hand for the LCC game Thursday and the Devils are hoping even more folks will come back out Friday night.
