Kane Ulrich has been battling sickness the past two weeks, with a serious bout of tonsilitis. He is feeling much better today and so are the Devils after he provided the game winning basehit in the Devils incredible 3-2 comeback win over Pierce on Sunday March 29th.
The Devils ran into Pierce lefty Matt Fish, who took a no-hitter into the 9th. Pierce had a 2-0 lead on Matt Thompson's two-run homer in the top of the 7th. LCC's Jeremy Rabauliman was equally effective despite giving up that one longball. Rabauliman went seven innings scattering five hits.
The 9th inning began with a hit-pitch to Ryan Littlefield. Lorin Archibald broke up the no-hitter with a single. Chris Rogers then drove in a run with a single. Ryan Enquist then tied the game with a clutch basehit. The stage was set for Ulrich, who slapped the game winner into right center, triggering a Red Devil celebration.
Joel Worden got the win with two innings of one-hit relief.
With the victory, the Devils go to 2-0 in league play.
LCC's Wednesday game with Centralia has been moved up to Tuesday March 31st due to a weather window. The game will be played at 4 pm. If the game is rained out, the two teams will try again Wednesday afternoon.
