The Red Devils certainly got Highline's attention earlier this season when LCC upset the T-Birds. There would be repeat on Wednesday November 4th as Highline swept the Devils 3-0 in Des Moines.
The T-Birds came out and blitzed LCC 25-13 in the opening set. Highline then took it from there and won the next two 25-20 and 25-17.
Rachel Erickson, who earlier in the day was named the West Region offensive player of the week, led LCC with 6 kills and 7 digs. The attack errors were plenty and nobody could put up big numbers at the net against the talented T-Bird team.
Kaysee Wohl had 5 kills,
Madison Studer had 5 kills and 3 digs, and
Madison Raymond had 4 kills.
Haylee Savage led the defense with 5 digs and 4 assists.
Despite the loss, the Devils have assured themselves the #3 seed out of the West when the NWAC Championships begin November 19th. LCC will take on the #2 team from the North either Bellevue, Skagit Valley or Olympic. The Devils will open the tourney at the Greater Tacoma Convention and Trade Center Thursday November 19th at 9:00 am.
Meanwhile, the regular season will close with a home match Friday November 6th against the Centralia Trailblazers. It's Sophomore Night as seven Red Devil sophomores will be honored prior to the 7 pm start. It will also be Trio's Food Drive Night. Fans are encouraged to bring some non-perishable food items to help stock a campus food bank being established by the Trio's program. Fans with food items will gain free admission.
