Eight LCC freshman got a first taste of college basketball over the weekend. They learned that playing good teams on the road is tough.
The Red Devils opened the season with a 62-56 loss at Bellevue on Saturday November 21st. Everett then beat the Devils 83-66 on Sunday November 22nd.
LCC played good enough defense against Bellevue, but offensive woes were the culprit. The Devils shot just 37.1 percent from the floor and were 3 for 16 from three-point range.
Kyle Bobo was one of just three sophomores to play in the game and he led LCC with 12 points. Fellow soph
Jared Roffler had nine points and six rebounds.
Devin Johnson had eight points and six boards in his college debut.Â
Lawrence Russell, the other Devil soph, had seven points and seven rebounds.
Everett just a big second half to turn a tight game into a home victory. With the score 44-42 Trojans at the half, Everett won the second 20 minutes 39-24. Red Devil shooting was just slighty better on Sunday at 37.5 percent. The Devils turned the ball over 21 times to just 10 for Everett.
Leading the LCC scorers was Russell with 19 points including 4 for 7 three's.Â
Nate Solomon had 11 points and six assists. Roffler had 10 points and nine rebounds.
