It sure looked like a seson opening game in which 18 freshmen were playing thier first college game. But if you're going to struggle, it's better to win.
And that's what the LCC women's basketball team did on Friday November 20th, as they beat Southwestern Oregon 62-60 at Myklebust Gym.
The Lakers turned the ball over 23 times and the Red Devils had 22 turnovers.
The Devils went on a 12-3 run in the third quarter to take a 40-31 lead, but the Lakers came storming back on an 11-1 run to regain the lead. The game went back and forth and wasn't decided until SWOC failed to get off a shot with five seconds left.
LCC sophomore
Katie Hankins looked the most comfortable as she had a game-high 20 points and nine rebounds.
Samantha Boyce came off the bench to score 10 points. Despite shooting just one for seven, Katarina Brejchova provided eight rebounds and three assists.
Freshman
Faye Chartraw had seven points for LCC.
The competition continues tough as the Devils host Columbia Basin at 3 pm Saturday November 21st, then take on defending champ Peninsula at 1 pm on Sunday November 22nd. Both games are at Myklebust Gym.
