Despite a poor shooting night, the Lower Columbia College women's basketball team opened league play and the new year with a 55-44 victory at South Puget Sound on Saturday January 3rd.
The Red Devils shot just 29 percent from the floor and just 2 for 17 from 3-point range, but they were able to grind out the win. LCC committed just nine turnovers and that help mitigate the tough shooting.
Sierra Richards had 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead LCC. Kaylea Knox was the only other player in double figures with 16. Donniesha Webber had six points and nine rebounds. The Devils got a big boost from Tamar Rodrigues, who had five points, four rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot.
The Devils will host Highline on Wednesday January 7th at 6 pm. The game will be played at the Mark Morris High School Gymnasium.
