Ed Earnest

 

Ed grew up in Longview and attended R.A. Long High School and Lower Columbia College. Ed played basketball for the Red Devils, 1984-1987. After LCC, he transferred to Brigham Young University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education/Athletic Training in 1989. He then completed a Master of Science program in Exercise Science/Athletic Training at BYU in 1992. He served as a graduate athletic trainer for the Cougars from 1988-1990.  Ed worked as staff athletic trainer for New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm, Minnesota, 1990-1999. In 2000,  he and his young family moved back to Longview continuing to work in health care for HealthSouth Physical Therapy (2000-2005) and currently Longview Physical and Sports Therapy (2005 to present), which position includes providing outreach sports medicine care for Lower Columbia Athletics. Ed is a certified athletic trainer and a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association. He has been an examiner for the NATA’s Board of Certification since 1991. In 2013, Ed earned his PTA licensure through Whatcom Community College.

He has taught courses in sports medicine at Kelso High School and prevention & care of athletic injuries at Lower Columbia College. Ed’s interests include mountain biking, basketball, camping, home remodeling, and custom cabinetry.
