Coach Callia enters his 3rd year back in Longview as an assistant under Head Coach Kurt Lupinski. Callia will serve as Pitching Coach and lead in Recruiting efforts during the 2025 Season. Callia also coordinates the Red Devil Baseball Strength Program, and works with the Catchers.
In his first year back with the Red Devils, the pitching staff set marks with a team 3.28 ERA. After a 21-3 record in conference play Callia helped the Red Devils in route to a West Region Title and their 15th NWAC Championship. The LCC Pitching staff saw Mike Schwarz earn first team All West- Region honors as well as the All NWAC Tournament team alongside MVP Jadon Williamson.
In 2024, Callia guided Red Devil Pitching to new heights posting a 2.89 Team ERA to go along with 417 Strikeouts. The Red Devil Pitching staff was led by 2nd Team All-NWAC & 1st Team All-West Region Owen Luchies, and 2nd Team All-West Hunter Lutman.
Callia has also spent the last 2 years as Pitching Coach for the Wenatchee Applesox of the West Coast League. In his first season with the club, he guided the AppleSox to a pitching staff to a 3.35 ERA, their lowest mark since 2012. In the summer of 2024, Callia helped lead the AppleSox to both first and second half titles, as well as their first North Division Championship since 2013. Their appearance in the WCL Title game also marked the organization’s first since 2013. The AppleSox were a combined 75-40 during his stretch with the club, and captured 2 playoff appearances. Under his guidance, the AppleSox Pitching staff produced 7 All-WCL Selections, and 3 All-Stars. Callia was also a key part in recruiting efforts during his time with the Sox.Â
Callia started his coaching career in the Summer of 2022 with the Western Nebraska Pioneers where he helped lead them to the inaugural Independence League Championship.Â
Callia's playing career consisted of time at both Lower Columbia College and West Texas A&M University. While at Lower Columbia, Callia was a part of the 2019 NWAC Championship team contributing 19 innings in relief for the Red Devils. In his Covid- Sophomore year, he helped lead the Red Devils to a 23-3 finish, tallying 32 innings. Callia spent the 2022 season at West Texas A&M University where he was sidelined due to injury.
A Renton, Washington native, Callia graduated from Kentridge High School in 2018 where he was a two time All-League player for the Chargers. Callia graduated with his bachelor's degree from West Texas A&M University.
Coach Callia lives in Longview with his longtime girlfriend Karsyn and dog Laney. Outside of baseball he enjoys spending time with family and friends.
