Kurt Lupinski was named the head coach of Lower Columbia College Baseball in July of 2021. Lupinski joined the Red Devils as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator in the Summer of 2017. Lupinski also served a 2-year stint at Washington State University during the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
In his time at Lower Columbia, the Red Devils have totaled 4 NWAC West Region Titles and 2 NWAC Championships. His recruiting efforts prior to departing for Washington State also helped lead the Red Devils to 2 additional NWAC Championships in 2018 and 2019. Hired initially as recruiting coordinator and to work with hitters and catchers, Lupinski has worked with each facet of the program in his time as head coach. During the 2024-2025 Season, Lupinski works with the hitters, infielders, and coaches baserunning. In just 3 short years as head coach of the Red Devils, he has compiled over 117 wins, including a West Region Title and NWAC Championship in 2023.
In his 3 years as Head Coach, Lupinski has helped produce 3 ABCA All-Region Gold Glove awards, 27 players with All-Region honors, and 12 All-NWAC players. In 2023 Coach Lupinski was honored as the ABCA Pacific Coast Coach of the year.
Lupinski’s presence has been felt at Lower Columbia since his arrival in 2017. As the recruiting coordinator and hitting coach under previous Head Coaches Eddie Smith and Eric Lane, Lupinski routinely helped mentor one of the NWAC’s top offenses.
In 2018 and 2019 Lupinski joined the coaching staff at Washington State University as a volunteer assistant coach. At WSU, he served a variety of roles including Camp Coordinator, and the clubs first base coach.
Prior to Washington State University, Lupinski was at Lower Columbia as the club’s recruiting coordinator under Eddie Smith.
From 2015-2016, Lupinski was the recruiting coordinator at Chemeketa Community College, in Salem Oregon. He helped the Storm make an NWAC Tournament appearance in 2016.
Before his stint at Chemeketa CC, Lupinski spent 1 year at Oregon Tech University (NAIA), and 1 year at Chapman University (DIII).
Lupinski got his start in coaching as a member of the undergraduate staff at Oregon State University. He credits much of what he has learned to Legendary Beaver Head Coach Pat Casey, and assistants Nate Yeskie and Pat Bailey. Former WSU Head Coach & OSU assistant Marty Lees, and (current Beaver Assistant Coach ) Ryan Gipson were also big influences on Coach Lupinski while they were at Oregon State together.
Lupinski also has experience coaching and working for Baseball Northwest and served as a Coach for USA Baseball at the 2011 Identification Games in Cary, North Carolina.
A native of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Lupinski attended Henley High School. “Coach Loop” was a huge contributor to a four-season stint where the program won 100 games including two state 3A titles. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree at Oregon State and has earned two master’s degrees, one in Coaching and Athletics Administration, and the other in Exercise Science through Concordia Irvine University.
In addition to being the Head Coach of the Red Devils, Lupinski also serves as the David Story Field Manager.
Coach Lupinski and his wife Ashley reside in Longview with their two sons- Bo, and Colt. He enjoys spending time with family as well as hiking, fishing, camping, and finding time to get on the golf course
