LONGVIEW, WA. — The Lower Columbia College women's basketball team extended their win streak and kept their perfect league record intact with a decisive 77-57 victory over the Centralia Trailblazers on Wednesday night at Myklebust Gymnasium.
With the win, the Red Devils improve to an impressive 19-3 overall and sit alone atop the NWAC West Region standings at 7-0.
Lower Columbia came out firing, putting up 24 points in the opening quarter to take an early double-digit lead. The Devils' offense was clicking all night, shooting 43.5% from the field (30-of-69) and knocking down 9-of-23 (39.1%) from three-point range.
Angelica Askey was the catalyst for the Devils, pouring in a game-high 23 points on efficient 9-of-16 shooting, including three triples. She also added three steals on the defensive end. Adrian Wright was a force in the paint, contributing 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting and grabbing seven rebounds.
While the offense was humming, the Red Devils' defense was equally disruptive. LCC racked up 16 steals as a team, led by a defensive masterclass from Regan Brewer. Brewer filled the stat sheet with six steals, a game-high seven assists, and five rebounds.
The Devils' depth was on full display, with the bench chipping in 22 points compared to Centralia's 6. Lower Columbia also won the battle on the boards 40-37 and controlled the pace, never allowing the Trailblazers to hold a lead.
