The Lower Columbia Red Devils put together a phenomenal weekend at David Story Field, sweeping their four-game series against the Bellevue Bulldogs.
Saturday 2-21 Game 1
The series opened with a high-scoring shootout on Saturday, where the Red Devils outlasted Bellevue for an 11-8 victory.
Reliever Hayden Line (1-0) earned the win by striking out five over 4.2 innings , while M. Komola (0-1) took the loss for the Bulldogs. Matthew Kosderka entered the game to secure his second save of the season.
Offensively, Jackson Noonan led the charge with a double and a triple , and Martyn Hernandez added an RBI and a run scored.
Saturday 2-21 Game 2
Saturday's nightcap featured a much different pace, as Lower Columbia's pitching completely shut down the Bellevue offense in a 4-0 shutout.
Quinn Hubbs (1-0) was masterful on the mound, taking the win after tossing six scoreless innings, striking out seven, and allowing just four hits. G. Davis (0-1) was handed the loss.
At the plate, Jaylen Kennedy paced the Red Devils with a pair of hits and an RBI , while Hernandez kept his bat hot with a hit, a walk, an RBI, and a run scored.
Sunday 2-22 Game 3
The momentum carried right into Sunday's action, with the Red Devils taking the early game in a tight 3-1 contest.
Starter Caden Spanier set the tone with four scoreless innings , but it was Adam Jay (1-0) who earned the win in relief after throwing four hitless innings and striking out two. Bellevue's C. Richter (0-1) took the loss , and M. Kosderka successfully closed the door to notch his third save of the year.
Karsten Hansen and James Cote sparked the offense with a double each , and Noonan chipped in with a hit, a walk, and an RBI.
Sunday 2-22 Game 4
Lower Columbia completed the sweep in Sunday's finale, edging out the Bulldogs 2-1 in a nail-biter.
Starter Justin Fuller was electric, racking up nine strikeouts over six innings without allowing an earned run. Karsten Hansen (1-0) picked up the win after pitching two scoreless innings of relief with a pair of strikeouts , while Z. Siebersma (0-1) took the loss for Bellevue.
Hernandez had another great game, tallying two hits, including a double, and scoring a run. Sam Davidson drove in a run with a timely single , and Jackson Wendt added a clutch sacrifice fly to help seal the win.
Up next, the Red Devils take their winning streak on the road. They will face Lane Community College in a doubleheader in Eugene, OR, on Thursday, Feb. 26. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
