No Mercy at Myklebust: Lower Columbia Steamrolls Tacoma

The Lower Columbia College Red Devils women's basketball team brought the heat on Wednesday night, crushing Tacoma 83-50 in front of a home crowd of 219 fans at Myklebust Gymnasium. With their ticket already punched for the 2025-26 NWAC Championship tournament, the Devils (22-4, 10-1) showed exactly why they are a relentless postseason threat.

The Devils set the tone immediately, jumping out to a 23-12 lead in the first quarter. Though the second quarter was a tighter 19-16 battle, Lower Columbia blew the game wide open after halftime, outscoring Tacoma 28-16 in the third frame.

Tacoma (1-26, 1-9) simply couldn't keep up with Lower Columbia's stifling defense and rebounding dominance. The Red Devils held Tacoma to just 6 points in the final quarter, extending their lead to as much as 37 points before the final buzzer sounded.

  • Angelica Askey added 13 points to the board. She also contributed 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.

  • Jaci Gonnie facilitated the offense beautifully with a team-leading 6 assists. She scored 11 points on the night.

  • Shailoh Li'ili'i was highly efficient, shooting 5-8 from the floor to secure 10 points. She pulled down 5 rebounds as well.

  • Lanasha Lacy was the primary bright spot for Tacoma, leading her squad with 15 points. She also tied for second on her team with 5 rebounds.
