Friday January 23, 2026
(Longview, WA) – Four individuals and one NWAC Championship team will be inducted into the Lower Columbia College Athletics Hall of Fame on Wednesday February 18th at Myklebust Gymnasium.
The inductees will be introduced at halftime of the LCC men's basketball game against Tacoma, which tips off at 5:30 pm that day.

A reception for the inductees and their family will be held prior to the game.

Mike Anderson - 1964 &1965 LCC Track & Field,
Anderson was a record setting miler during his two seasons at Lower Columbia College.  The R.A. Long product stayed in his hometown to begin his college career and he became the long distance man-to-beat in the State
Community College ranks. Anderson showed talent and endurance in his first season at LCC.  He won the mile and the two-mile in single meets several times.

During his sophomore year, Anderson set the LCC record in the 880 and the mile.  He also broke the WSJCAA mile record, despite taking second in the final to Highline's Jim Prout. One of his great achievements in his sophomore
season was winning the 880, mile and two-mile in a single meet.

While at LCC, Anderson formed a track club that drew many of the top long distance runners in the area. Anderson went on to run at the University of Idaho.

Terry Gregg - 1961-62; 1962-63 LCC Basketball
Gregg was a multi-sport star at R.A. Long High School when he came to LCC to play basketball.  He was a high scoring guard who earned All-WSJCAA honors in both seasons at LCC.
Terry went on to play basketball at Central Washington University.  Gregg became a legend in the boy's high school coaching ranks.  He had an overall record of 681-217 in his years at Shelton and North Medford.  Gregg coached Shelton to the 1976 AA State title. Shelton was the runner-up in 1977 and in all his Shelton teams won eight league titles.  He had a successful run in 12 years at North Medford before retiring in 1998.

Gregg was inducted into the R.A. Long High School Hall of Fame in 2014 and was also named to the Cowlitz County All-Century team in 2009.

Alice (Fox) Dietz - 2002; 2003 LCC Women's Soccer
Alice Fox was a talented high scoring player at Kelso High School when she decided to stay in her home area and attend Lower Columbia College.
Her freshman season was a great one.  Fox scored 15 goals for the Red Devils, 4th in the conference, and was named to the NWAC All-Southwest Region team. She followed that up with seven goals as a sophomore where many
of the top defenders were assigned to slow her down. She was again an All-Southwest Region player.

Fox went on to play at Evergreen State College in Olympia where she became the 4th all-time scorer with 17 goals, and 3rd all-time in assists with 13.  She had four game winning goals during her time as a Geoduck. She went to
Evergreen with her husband Doug Dietz who won an NWAC title for the 2004 LCC basketball team.  They both played at Evergreen while raising their first-born son Deacon.

Alice Dietz is the public information officer for the Cowlitz PUD and currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Lower Columbia College.
Sheldon Andrews - 1979; 1980 LCC Baseball
The Rainier Oregon graduate had a stellar career pitching for the LCC baseball team.  He earned three victories in the 1979 NWAACC Baseball championship tournament.  His sophomore season he had an earned run average of
2.39 and was an all-NWAACC all-star.

Andrews had the kind of arm talent that brought professional scouts to LCC games.  He was drafted by four teams including the Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Mets, Pittsburgh again, and finally the New York Yankees in 1980.
Andrews spent three seasons in the minor leagues with an 18-12 record and a fine 3.17 ERA with 195 strikeouts before injury ended his promising career.

Andrews went on to a long high school coaching career and has mentored many local players.

1991 Lower Columbia College Volleyball team
The 1991 Red Devil Volleyball team is not remembered for its incredible size of imposing strength. But they are remembered as talented, smart and relentless.

The Devils went 53-4 on the season and captured the school's first ever NWAACC volleyball championship defeating host Mt. Hood for the title. Setter Marcy (Watkins) Gilchrist was named the tourney MVP and she was joined on the
all-tournament team by Peggy (Adams) Estes and Jennifer (Godinho) Hefley.  Head Coach Jocelyn Price was named the Coach of the Year.

The team included Monica Dailey, Alida Engblom, Stacey Doumit, Beth DeVries, Godinho, Watkins, Adams, Stephanie Patterson, Toni Pascua and Ami Ness.

Price counted on assistant coach Bill Tuggle to play a prominent role in leading the 1991 red Devils to the top of the NWAACC mountain.  Price was inducted into the LCC Hall of Fame in 2019.
