(Longview, WA) -- The Lower Columbia College volleyball team shook off a slow start in its home opener and went on to complete a 3-0 sweep over the Mt. Hood Saints on Tuesday September 2nd.
Three highly-touted freshmen made a strong first impression in front of the Red Devils fans.
Kendall Humphrey had 13 kills with a .500 kill percentage.
Karissa Otterstetter collected 28 assists.
Claire Neuman had 11 kills.
Down by five points early in set one, the Devils used a five point run to get back into it and then rallied for a 25-21 win. LCC then continued to improve the chemistry as the match progressed and won the last two sets by scores of 25-15.
LCC had a solid team kill percentage of .312. Libero
Lillian Halberg had six service aces to go along with her seven digs. Neuman showed her versatility with a team-high nine digs to go along with her solid net play.
The Devils are 2-1 on the season and face a quick turnaround as they are slated to play defending NWAC champion Skagit Valley on Wednesday September 3rd. Game time is 5 pm in Mt. Vernon.
