Longview, WA. — The Lower Columbia Red Devils took control on their home turf, securing a decisive 3-1 victory over the Pierce Raiders at Northlake Field, Wednesday afternoon. The Red Devils' offense was relentless, keeping the Raiders' defense on its heels throughout the match and tallying 26 total shots, 18 of which were on goal.
The Red Devils set the tone early, with midfielder McKenna Geffre finding the back of the net in the 23rd minute to put the home team up 1-0. While the offense was firing on all cylinders, the defense, led by goalkeeper Haley Loll, held strong, allowing only a single shot on goal in the first half.
The second half started with a quick one-two punch from the Red Devils. Just 37 seconds into the half, defender Annabelle Rogers capitalized on an assist from Dea Covarrubias to extend the lead to 2-0. Minutes later, Geffre struck again, burying her second goal of the match at the 53:23 mark to give the Red Devils a commanding 3-1 lead.
While Pierce managed to get a goal back from Olivia Jahn, it was all Lower Columbia for most of the match. The Red Devils' dominance was evident in the box score, where their 26 shots dwarfed Pierce's 10. The Raiders' goalkeeper, Rylee Kline, was a standout, making 15 saves to prevent an even larger margin of victory.
The Red Devils' defense was also solid, with both Haley Loll and Cassandra Cleland making key saves to protect the lead. Loll recorded two saves in the first half, and Cleland came in during the second half to add three more, stifling any chance of a Raiders' comeback.
With this win, the Red Devils improve their record to 2-2-1 on the season and 1-0-0 in league play.
Lower Columbia will travel to Centralia, WA on Saturday, Sept. 13 for a 2:15 pm match vs the Trailblazers.
