Red Devils Remain Unbeaten, Overwhelm Clark In DH Sweep

Game One
VANCOUVER, WA
– The Lower Columbia College Red Devils softball team showcased their potent offense and solid pitching once again, rolling to a dominant 15-1 victory over the Clark Penguins on Friday afternoon. The win, achieved in just five innings due to the run rule, extended the Red Devils' remarkable undefeated streak to 32-0 overall and maintained their perfect 19-0 record in conference play.

Playing on the road in the first game of a scheduled doubleheader, Lower Columbia wasted little time setting the tone. After plating a single run in the first inning, the offense exploded in the middle frames. A six-run outburst in the third inning broke the game open, followed by an emphatic eight-run fourth inning that put the contest firmly out of reach for the Penguins.

The Red Devils amassed 16 hits in the shortened game, displaying power and timely hitting throughout the lineup. Hailey Brooks had a monster day at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, four runs scored, two RBIs, and was also hit by a pitch. Gabi Silveria provided significant run production, driving in four runs on two hits, including a bases-clearing triple in the fourth inning.

Joelie Eder also had a strong performance, collecting two hits, including a double, driving in three runs, and scoring twice. Lead off hitter Lexi Grumbois set the table effectively, going 2-for-2 with a double, a run scored, and two RBIs via sacrifice flies. Allison Baumgart and Shaz Ancheta added two hits each, contributing to the relentless offensive pressure.

On the mound, pitcher Jadyn Terry continued her stellar season, tossing a complete game for the win and improving her record to 7-0. Terry allowed just three hits and two walks over five innings while striking out four Clark batters. The Penguins managed their only run in the bottom of the fifth, an unearned tally that did little to dent the Red Devils' commanding lead. Terry efficiently navigated the Clark lineup, needing only 54 pitches to secure the victory.

The Red Devils capitalized on four errors committed by the Penguins' defense, adding to the lopsided scoreline. Clark starter Lily Ferres took the loss, falling to 5-5 on the season.

The comprehensive victory highlights Lower Columbia's continued dominance as they navigate the conference schedule, blending overwhelming offense with reliable pitching and defense.

Game Two

If the first game was dominant, the second game was simply overwhelming. The Lower Columbia College Red Devils softball team completed a resounding doubleheader sweep of the Clark Penguins with an astonishing 24-1 victory in Friday evening's nightcap at Raines Field.

Showcasing an offensive onslaught that scored runs in every inning, the Red Devils improved their perfect record to 33-0 overall and 20-0 in conference action. Like the first game, the contest ended after five innings due to the run rule.

Lower Columbia put on a hitting exhibition, racking up 23 hits against four different Clark pitchers. The scoring started with three runs in the first and never let up, adding four in the second, five in the third, four in the fourth, and a final eight-run explosion in the fifth inning. LCC hitters consistently found gaps, tallying six doubles and a triple in the hit parade.

Leading the charge was center fielder Joelie Eder, who put together a massive game, going 4-for-5 with three doubles, six RBIs, and two runs scored. Lead off hitter Lexi Grumbois continued her excellent day, reaching base four times with two hits and a walk, scoring four runs and driving in two. Dani Ambriz provided a huge spark from the bottom of the order, going 3-for-4 with a double, three runs scored, and was also hit by a pitch.

The contributions were widespread. Brooklyn Loose collected three hits and three runs before being lifted for a pinch hitter. H. Brooks added two hits, a double, and two RBIs before E. Langsi came on in relief and went 2-for-2 with three RBIs of her own. Allison Baumgart chipped in two hits and three RBIs, while G. Silveria had two hits, including a triple, scored twice and drove in one before Katelyn Swanson took over at second base.

While the offense piled up runs, pitcher Cerenity Fake was dealing on the mound. Fake fired a complete-game one-hitter, dominating the Penguin lineup. She struck out 10 batters while issuing only three walks. The only run she allowed came on Clark's lone hit, a double by Promise Bond in the fourth inning. Fake earned the win, improving her season record to 8-0.

Defensively, the Red Devils were flawless, playing an error-free game. This stood in stark contrast to the Penguins, who committed seven costly errors that fueled the LCC scoring barrage. Only 17 of the 24 runs allowed by Clark pitchers were earned. Isabella Weibe took the loss for the Penguins, dropping her record to 0-2.

The doubleheader sweep in Vancouver further cemented Lower Columbia's status as the team to beat, showcasing incredible offensive depth, dominant pitching, and sharp defense as they continue their undefeated march through the season.
