The bats stayed hot and the pitching again was solid as Lower Columbia Softball went 4-0 in the NWAC Crossover over the weekend, played at the Southridge Softball Complex in Kennewick.

Lower Columbia hitters combined for 11 home runs in the four games…with Hailey Brooks belting three round trippers. The Red Devils are now 8-0 on the season.

South Region play begins later this week, when LCC hosts Chemeketa on Friday at 3p and Umpqua at noon on Saturday. Both are double headers.

FRIDAY GAME REVIEW
Lower Columbia 10, Spokane 2 (5 innings): Jadyn Terry went the distance and earned her first college win vs. the Sasquatch. The former R.A. Long Lumberjill allowed just one earned run on five hits, while fanning seven and walking one.

Brooklyn Loose had three singles and an RBI to help jump start the Devil offense. Joelie Eder, playing in front of her hometown fans, was 2-3 with a two-run home run and three RBI. Brooks was also 2-3 and drove in a pair. Katelyn Swanson, Allison Baumgart and Shaz Ancheta each drove in one run.

Lower Columbia 14, Blue Mountain 2 (5 innings): The Red Devils came out firing against the T-Wolves, plating 11 runs in the top of the first inning. Lexi Grumbois led off with a triple and Loose followed with a two-run bomb. Emma Langsi smoked a bases-clearing triple later in the first and Eder added a two-run HR to close the inning, which saw 14 Red Devils come to the plate.

For the game Loose was 3-3 with three RBI, Grumbois 3-4 with a triple, double and an RBI, Langsi 2-4 with a triple, double and three RBI and Ancheta hit 2-4 with a double and two RBI.

Pitcher Cerenity Fake was the benefactor of the offensive outburst. The freshman hurler earned her second win going the distance while striking out nine, allowing five hits and walking no Timberwolves.

SATURDAY GAME REVIEW
Lower Columbia 12, Walla Walla 6: Lower Columbia hit five long balls in the win, with Ancheta belting two bombs and driving in five runs. Grumbois, Brooks and Kaydence Mackin also went deep for LCC.

After LCC jumped ahead 6-1 in the top of the third inning, Walla Walla took advantage of two Devil infield errors to score four runs in the bottom of the third, climbing within a run. Zoey Hughes came on in relief to stop the WW rally.
The Red Devil offense responded. Mackin hit a two-run HR in the fifth, Baumgart added an RBI double in the sixth and Ancheta provided the big insurance runs in the seventh, smoking an opposite field three-run home run to put the game away.

Lower Columbia 15, Bellevue 1: Lower Columbia once again started fast with a seven-run first inning, with Baumgart, Fake and Rylee Brown all lining two RBI singles.

As Hughes was in control in the circle, Brooks hit a tape measure three-run HR and later a solo shot. Loose also went deep. Loose, Brooks, Eder, Ancheta and Brown all had two hits.

Hughes went the distance for her third win of the season. The Battle Ground righty allowed one earned run on four hits, while striking out seven Bulldogs and walking none.
