Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Devils End 2025 With Eight Straight

(Longview, WA) -- The Lower Columbia women's basketball team celebrated New Year's Eve with a eight game win streak to close out 2025.  The Devils went 3-0 at the Lower Columbia Holiday Classic.

Anjelica Askey was named to the All-Tournament team but there were plenty of key contributors in wins over Shoreline, Columbia Basin and Whatcom.

Monday December 29th- Lower Columbia 105 Shoreline 22

The Devils jumped out to a 33-0 lead and never looked back. 15 Red Devils played and all 15 scored.

Askey led the way with 18 points on 7 for 8 shooting.  Adrian Wright had 12 points.  Jaci Gonnie scored 11 and Grace Simpson had a college career high 11.  Breanna Albright also scored in double figures with 10 points.

Tuesday December 30th - Lower Columbia 71 Columbia Basin 69

It was a stark contrast to Monday's blowout.  The tough Columbia Basin Hawks gave LCC all they could handle.

Askey hit two free throws with two minutes left to tie the game at 58-58 and the game went into overtime.  LCC went 11 for 11 at the free throw line in the OT and they needed every one of them.  Up six with :28 second left, the Devils got loose with the ball and turned it over two times to create some drama.  CBC had the ball with 0.02 left but didn't have time to get off a shot.

Askey had 21 points.  Brewer scored 14 including 8 for 8 at the line.  Brooke Ravet had an incredible game scoring 12 of her 14 points in the first half including a buzzer beating trey at the halftime buzzer.  Ravet started in place of injured forward Shailoh Li'ili'i and came through with 4 for 7 shooting from beyond the arc.  Gonnie added 14 points.

Wednesday December 31st - Lower Columbia 76 Whatcom 52

Lillian Bickford had a monster game to lead LCC.  After playing 0.2 second against CBC, the freshman from Eatonville logged 24 minutes scoring a college career high 18 points. Bickford was 9 for 13 from the floor and also pulled down six boards.

Taylor Dagons played an inspired game coming off an ankle injury suffered against Shoreline.  Dagons scored 12 points in 12 minutes with five rebounds and many hustle plays.

Askey had 14 points and Wright had 10.

The Devils are 12-3 heading into 2026 and the West Region schedule.  The Devils will travel to Centralia for a 7 pm game on Wednesday January 7th.
