No Tricks, All Treats: Devils Get Halloween Victory

The Lower Columbia College Red Devils volleyball team defended their home court on Halloween, posting a 3-1 league victory over the Tacoma Titans on Friday night at Myklebust Gymnasium.

Before the start of the match the Devils took some time to recognize and honor their five sophomore in the last home match of the season.
Irene Martinez, Allison Orantes, Lillian Halberg, Lexi Knezvic, and Delaney Fortelney have been outstanding all season and have been vital to the Devils making the post season.

The Red Devils improve to 13-9 on the season and 9-2 in NWAC West Region play.

Lower Columbia started strong, handily taking the first set 25-15. Tacoma battled back to even the match, winning the second set 25-18. The Red Devils regained their composure after the break, rolling to a 25-16 win in the third set before closing out the match in a competitive 25-22 fourth set.

LCC's offense was powered by a balanced attack, spearheaded by a dominant performance from Claire Neuman. The sophomore was a force at the net, leading the team with 11 kills on an efficient .385 hitting percentage while also racking up 5 total blocks (2 solo, 3 assists).

Several Red Devils contributed to the attack:

Setter Karissa Otterstetter directed the offense, finishing with 31 assists and adding 11 digs.

Defensively, the back row was solid, with Kamryn Sande leading the way with a team-high 15 digs. Lillian Halberg was close behind with 14 digs and led all players with 3 service aces.

Tacoma (18-16, 5-6) was led by 13 kills from Emilia Linden and a 31-assist, 18-dig double-double from Kylee Harris.

LCC has one more league match before heading to the NWAC Regionals, they will face the South Puget Sound Clippers Olympia, WA on Wednesday, November 5, at 7:00 pm.
