LONGVIEW, Wash. — The Lower Columbia College Women's Basketball team continued their commanding start to the 2025-26 season with a resounding 74-49 victory over the visiting Portland team on Wednesday night at Myklebust Gymnasium. With the win, the Red Devils improve their perfect record to 3-0.
The victory was powered by a relentless defense that suffocated the Portland offense and a supremely dominant performance on the interior by forward Shailoh Li'ili'i.
Li'ili'i Dominates the Paint
Sophomore forward Shailoh Li'ili'i delivered a monster performance, leading all scorers and rebounders with 17 points on efficient 8-of-13 shooting, and pulling down a game-high 13 rebounds, seven of which came on the offensive end. Her physical presence in the paint set the tone early and throughout the game, providing crucial second-chance opportunities for the Red Devils.
The Red Devils jumped out to an early lead, concluding the first quarter up 19-16, and never looked back, entering halftime with a comfortable 37-24 advantage. The defense tightened dramatically in the middle quarters, holding the visitors to just 8 points in the second period and 12 in the third.
Balanced Attack Fuels the Run
Lower Columbia showcased its offensive depth with three players reaching double-digit scoring. Alongside Li'ili'i, Angelica Askey provided valuable perimeter scoring and playmaking, netting 14 points and distributing 5 assists. Guard Adrian Wright was also dynamic, adding 14 points and pulling down 5 rebounds in just 21 minutes of action.
Crucially, the Red Devils exhibited outstanding ball control, committing only 9 total turnovers for the entire game, while forcing Portland into 22 costly turnovers. This discipline translated directly into points, highlighting the team's superior command of the court. The Red Devils' bench also contributed significantly, chipping in 17 points to keep the pressure high across all four quarters.
Other notable contributions came from Crimson Childs (9 points, 4 rebounds) and Regan Brewer (3 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals), whose defensive pressure was instrumental in disrupting the visitor's offense.
The Red Devils' next challenge will be Tuesday, November 25, as the Clackamas Cougars come to Myklebust Gym for a 6:00 pm tip.
The LCC men's basketball team will follow with an 8:00 pm game vs the Chemeketa Storm.
