LONGVIEW, WA – The Lower Columbia College Red Devils put on an offensive showcase Wednesday afternoon, cruising to a decisive 3-0 victory over the Green River Gators at North Lake Field. Forward Maylee Reynolds was the star of the show, netting two goals in a dominant performance.
From the opening whistle, the Red Devils controlled the pace of the game, relentlessly pressuring the Gators' defense. Lower Columbia fired off an incredible 21 shots throughout the match, with 14 on target, keeping the Green River goalkeeper busy all day.
Despite numerous early chances, the Devils didn't break through until the 41st minute when Reynolds found the back of the net for her first goal, giving LCC a crucial 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
The second half saw more of the same, with the Red Devils maintaining possession and creating opportunities. In the 69th minute, Reynolds struck again with an unassisted goal to double the lead. The final nail in the coffin came in the 85th minute when defender Ava Gibbs scored off a beautiful assist from Lydia Tobin, sealing the 3-0 win.
The Red Devil defense was an impenetrable wall, allowing just three shots from Green River the entire game. Goalkeepers Cassandra Cleland and Haley Loll split time in goal, combining for the shutout. Cleland made two saves in the first half to preserve the clean sheet.
With the victory, the Red Devils improve their record to 4-5-3 on the season, 3-3-2 in west region action.
