Devils Dominate

(Auburn, WA) The Lower Columbia Red Devils secured a solid 81-75 victory over the Green River Gators in an NWAC matchup at Green River College. The Red Devils, now 8-8 overall and 2-0 in conference play, used a strong second and fourth quarter to take control of the game and fend off a competitive Green River squad.

Lower Columbia shot 36.8% from the field, making 25 of 68 attempts, and hit 7 of 23 three-pointers for a 30.4% success rate. They were especially effective from the free-throw line, converting 24 of 28 attempts (85.7%). The Devils dominated the rebounding battle, securing 49 total rebounds, including 21 on the offensive end. They also recorded 16 assists, nine steals, and forced 17 turnovers while committing 16 fouls.

Reigha Niemeyer led the team with 16 points, three rebounds, six assists, and three steals while going a perfect 12-12 from the free-throw line.

Lauren Katyryniuk added 14 points, knocking down four three-pointers and collecting three rebounds.

Dylan Mann posted a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, five of which were offensive, along with two assists.

Karlee VonMoos also recorded a double-double, finishing with 13 points, 10 rebounds, and three steals. Morgan Hamilton contributed 12 points, six rebounds, and three assists, providing consistent scoring and rebounding.

For Green River, Aryanna Bull was the top performer with 18 points on 7-11 shooting while adding five rebounds and a block. She was instrumental in keeping the game competitive, but Green River ultimately struggled with Lower Columbia's rebounding advantage and efficient free-throw shooting.

A key moment in the game came in the second quarter when Lower Columbia scored 24 points to take control after a slow first quarter. Though Green River fought back in the fourth quarter, the Red Devils held on with clutch free throws and defensive stops. The rebounding dominance, as Lower Columbia out-rebounded Green River 49-32, was a crucial factor in their win.

This victory keeps Lower Columbia undefeated in conference play at 2-0, while Green River falls to 7-9 overall and 1-1 in the NWAC standings.

Next up for LCC is a home match vs the Pierce Raiders on Wednesday, January 15, at 5:30 pm.
