(Bremerton, WA) – The Lower Columbia College baseball team got back on the winning track by taking four games with Olympic on April 6
th and 7
th.
Game One in Longview – Lower Columbia 2 Olympic 1
Three Red Devil pitchers combined on a three-hitter to lead the way.
Hunter Lutman got the start and the victory with five innings of one-hit ball. He walked just one and struck out five.
Stephen Hammergren came on and was very good in the middle innings. He went three frames and allowed just one hit. The Rangers scored on a sacrifice fly in the top of the 8
th off the Hammer.
Josh Mejia closed it with a scoreless ninth inning, preserving the victory and getting the save.
The Devils offense was held down by Olympic starter Cannon Close who went seven solid innings giving up two runs.
Wren Cecil laid down a run scoring sacrifice bunt in the third.
Langan Naylor's RBI double drove in the eventual game winner.
Naylor had two of the Devils five hits.
Game Two in Longview – Lower Columbia 10 Olympic 0
There was no suspense in the second game at Story Field. LCC scored six runs in the first two innings and went on the easy victory.
It was a no-hitter for LCC.
Jack DeDonato went four innings without allowing a hit. The lefty walked just one and struck out five Rangers.
Ryan McClaskey pitched a perfect 5
th inning.
Naylor was 2 for 2 with two RBI's.
Cayden Wotipka had a triple drove in two runs.
Jace Nagler,
Brayden Oram,
Jake Smith and
Nate Gray Jr. all had RBI's. Gray's run scoring single in the bottom of the 5
th ended the game early on the mercy rule.
Game Three in Bremerton – Lower Columbia 6 Olympic 5
Some early runs gave LCC the lead but they had to hold on for the win. The Devils scored three in the top of the first and followed with two more in the second. The Devils scored what turned out to be the winning run in the 7
th when Cecil scored on the back end of a double steal.
Noah Imboden went five solid innings allowing just two runs with no walks.
Hayden Morrison pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up three runs.
Aaron Platner did a great job going 2 1/3 of hitless relief with three strikeouts to get the save.
Oram was 3 for 4 with two RBI's to lead the offense.
Game Four in Bremerton – Lower Columbia 8 Olympic 0
Three LCC pitchers dominated with a combined three hitter.
Owen Luchies got the victory with five innings of two-hit ball. Luchies struck out eight batters.
Chayse Oxborrow contributed a scoreless 6
th inning allowing just one hit and two strikeouts.
Aaden Anderson had a perfect 7
th with two K's. Combined the three Devils hurlers struck out 12 Rangers.
LCC scored in five of the seven innings. Wotipka had a big game with three hits and two RBI's. He hit his first homer of the season, a two run shot in the 4
th.
Owen Cummins was 3 for 4 with a triple and two RBI's. Smith drove in two runs.
The Devils are 5-3 in the West and 24-7 overall.
Next up in league play in a four game series with Clark. The teams meet at Story Field for a 12 pm DH on Saturday April 13
th. The scene shifts to the Clark campus for a 1 pm Sunday double header in Vancouver.
