(Centralia, WA) – The Lower Columbia College softball team used two huge first innings in completing a double header sweep at Centralia on Saturday March 23
rd.
LCC scored six runs in the first inning of the first game and went on to win 12-2 in five innings. LCC then scored eight runs in the first inning of the nightcap and won 13-0.
Game One – LCC 12 Centralia 2
The game was played at 10 am and the Devils didn't have to hit the snooze button. They six run opening frame was fueled by a leadoff double by
Leanna Russell and RBI hits from
Brooklyn Loose,
Bella Aspaas,
Teeghan Reams and
Ella Dillon.
LCC added three more in the second inning on a
Raychel Squibb RBI double followed by RBI single from Loose and Reams.
Three more runs came across the plate in the third on a
Joelie Eder two run double and a
Sawyer Stenson runs scoring single.
Every Red Devil starter had at least one hit. Dillon went 3 for 3.
Reams got the complete game victory with five innings giving up two runs, two hits and striking out seven.
Game Two – LCC 13 Centralia 0
Sadie Knutson was the recipient of another cascade of runs by the offense. Knutson went four innings allowing just one hit with six strikeouts.
Alexis Moore finished up with an inning of work, striking out three.
The first had plenty of production as Eder had an RBI single, Loose drove in two with a double, Reams had an RBI double and
Maliyah Twitty spanked an RBI single.
Russell, taking over the leadoff spot, went 3 for 4. Squibb had two hits and three RBI's. Loose and Eder both had two RBI's.
With sweep, the Devils remain in first place in the South Region with a 6-0 record. But the schedule gets tougher as the week goes on. Lower Columbia will host Chemeketa Tuesday March 26
th for a 3 pm doubleheader. LCC will be at home Friday March 29
th for a 3 pm doubleheader with Clackamas. Then the Devils hit the road for a 12 pm doubleheader on Saturday March 30
th at Mt. Hood.
