(Oregon City, OR) The Lower Columbia Red Devils came up short in a competitive matchup against the Clackamas Cougars, falling 80-72. A challenging second quarter, where Clackamas outscored the Red Devils 32-15, proved to be the difference despite strong efforts in the second half.
Karlee VonMoos had a standout performance, leading the Red Devils with 26 points on 11-of-17 shooting and dominating the boards with 17 rebounds, including six offensive. Reigha Niemeyer was also a key contributor, scoring 22 points, including five three-pointers, while adding seven rebounds and four assists. Morgan Hamilton chipped in with 14 points and six rebounds, showing consistent play throughout the game.
Lower Columbia controlled the glass, out-rebounding Clackamas 51-35. Michaela Medico added seven rebounds to the effort, while Brooke Ravet provided a spark off the bench with three points. Despite these strengths, turnovers were a significant factor, with the Red Devils committing 20, which Clackamas converted into 23 points.
The Red Devils shot 40.6% from the field and 31.8% from beyond the arc, while Clackamas shot 44.4% overall and outscored Lower Columbia 52-40 in the paint. Although Lower Columbia made a strong push in the third quarter, outscoring Clackamas 21-12, the deficit from the second quarter was too steep to overcome.
The loss brings Lower Columbia's record to 5-6 as they prepare to regroup and focus on the upcoming LCC Holiday Classic.
